Data and AI

Data analytics and AI development you can act on

If your figures live in several systems and a pile of spreadsheets, our data analytics and AI development work puts them in one place you can trust. Then we add AI only where it saves your team real hours.

Overview

What data analytics and AI development means

You probably already have the data you need. The trouble is that it sits in different systems and spreadsheets, and the totals rarely match. So before anyone can make a decision, someone spends a morning copying figures by hand.

We work from the ground up. First comes data engineering, so the figures are collected and cleaned automatically. Business intelligence dashboards sit on top of that. Applied AI comes last, and only where it clearly helps, because it can only be as good as the data underneath it.

Who this service is for

  • Operations and finance leaders who wait days for a report they need today.
  • Product teams who want to add search or an assistant to their software.
  • Teams buried in paperwork that someone still types up by hand.
  • Businesses planning ahead that need to forecast stock, staffing or demand.
What we build

Data and AI services we deliver

You can start with just one of these and add more later, since they all draw on the same clean data. Not sure where AI fits? Read our guide to AI in business software.

Data engineering

We build pipelines that pull data from your apps, files and APIs (the connections systems use to share data) into one store. Every run cleans and checks it on the way in.

Business intelligence dashboards

Power BI dashboards that show each team the numbers it needs, with "revenue" meaning the same thing on every screen.

Document processing and search

Software that reads invoices and forms and picks out the dates and totals for you. Our search finds answers by meaning, not just matching words.

AI assistants and forecasting

Assistants that answer questions from your own records. For forecasts we use machine learning, which is software that learns patterns from your past data.

How it works

How a data and AI project runs

A single dashboard and a full AI feature go through the same four stages. How long each stage takes mostly depends on how many systems we need to connect.

  1. Review your data and goalsWe check your sources and their quality, then give you a written plan with the risks and a fixed estimate.Weeks 1 to 2
  2. Build the data platformWe set up the central database and pipelines, with automatic checks that flag odd values.Weeks 3 to 6
  3. Key stepAdd dashboards or AIWe build the reports, search or assistant and go through them with the people who will use them.Weeks 6 to 12
  4. Test, launch and monitorWe measure accuracy on your real examples, then keep an eye on it once it's live.Week 12 onwards

After launch, we retrain models and adjust reports as your data changes.

Each data project follows our software development process, so you always know which stage you're in.

Technology

Technology we use for data and AI

We pick well known tools that your team can easily hire for, and we keep what you already use if it works.

An assistant can only give good answers if the data it reads is right, so we plan the data work and the AI together.

How we protect your data

Used only for the purpose you agree
Never used to train shared AI models
Access limited by role
Encrypted at rest and in transit
A person reviews results that affect decisions
Confidentiality agreement on request

Encryption scrambles your data so nobody can read it while it's stored or being sent. If you want a wider check of your systems, look at our application security services.

Time and cost

How long it takes and what affects cost

Here are the usual ranges for common projects. Your own fixed estimate is agreed with you before any work begins.

Data and reportingAI features

The biggest factors are how many sources we connect and how messy they are. How often the data refreshes matters too, as do the kinds of documents, the quality of the scans and how accurate the results need to be.

Cost comes down to the size of the team and how long the work takes. Our guide on how much custom software costs explains more, and our engagement models compare a fixed project with a dedicated team.

What you receive

Everything you need to run it yourself

  • Working pipelines and dashboards, running in your own cloud account.
  • Full source code and models, which belong to you from day one.
  • A data dictionary that explains what every table and figure means.
  • An accuracy report for each AI feature we build.
  • A handover session where we walk your team through it all.
What changes

Results you can expect

  • One trusted source of figures. Finance and sales stop arguing over whose spreadsheet is right.
  • Faster reporting. A report that took days to pull together can be ready in minutes.
  • Less routine typing. Documents get read and lookups happen in the background.
  • AI that supports people. It does the legwork, and your people still make the final call.
Questions

Your data and AI questions answered

No. We only use your data for the purpose we've agreed with you. We're also happy to sign a confidentiality agreement before you share anything at all.

Before launch, we test results against real examples from your business. Our assistants show where each answer came from, so it can be checked. Anything important gets reviewed by a person, and we keep measuring accuracy after launch.

Not for dashboards or document reading. Forecasting is different: it usually needs at least one full business cycle of history to learn from. The data review at the start shows if you have enough.

Yes. If parts of it work well, we keep them and build around them.

Often, yes. Both need the same clean data, so it makes sense to plan them together. We then release whichever part saves you the most time first.

Your own team can, with the documentation we hand over. If you'd rather not, our software maintenance and support service watches the pipelines, fixes anything that breaks and retrains models when needed.

Industries

Industries we do data work in

We do the most data work in sectors that collect far more than they ever look at. Energy and utilities companies gather more meter readings every year. In manufacturing, useful readings often sit inside machine controllers that nobody checks. Insurance firms need to be able to explain a pricing decision years after they made it. And in logistics, the data to spot a delay early is usually already there. See all the industries we work in.

Tell us what you'd like to stop doing by hand, and we'll suggest a sensible place to start.
