Financial services and fintech

Finance and banking software development

We build lending, payments and customer systems for banks, lenders and fintech firms. Your customers want an answer today, and your regulator wants to see exactly how you reached it. We build software that gives both of them what they need.

Lending, payments and onboarding

Finance software we're asked to build

Loan origination

Applications, identity checks, scoring and a review queue, so a decision that took days can be made the same day.

Account opening

Onboarding that collects documents once, checks them automatically and tells the applicant where they are up to.

Payments and reconciliation

Payment flows that match money in against money out every day, and flag anything that doesn't line up so someone can look at it that morning.

Customer portals

Statements, documents and requests in one place, so customers can find answers themselves instead of calling you.

Risk and regulatory reporting

Reports that pull figures straight from the systems holding them, on a schedule, and show how each number was worked out.

Core system connections

We connect to older core banking platforms through files, message queues or APIs (the ways systems pass data to each other), and leave the core in place.

Why finance software needs proof

Most finance projects we're asked to run start in the same place. The process works, but it's held together by spreadsheets, email and staff typing the same details into two systems. Applications wait in inboxes for someone to pick them up, and when an auditor asks for evidence, two people can lose a week pulling it together.

So we plan for proof from the first week. If the system approves a loan automatically, you'll be able to explain why months later. Each change to a record carries the name of the person who made it, and the data stays where your licence says it must. We build this in from the start rather than adding it just before launch.

Regulation and evidence

What regulators expect us to show

  • Know your customer. We run identity checks at onboarding and keep the evidence that satisfied each one.
  • Anti money laundering screening. We check names against sanctions lists and lists of politically exposed people, and store the result with the case.
  • Payment card security. We keep card data out of your systems wherever we can, and fence it off tightly where we can't.
  • Audit trail. Every change shows who made it, when, and what the value was before. An auditor can follow it without needing us in the room.
  • Data residency. Records stay in the country or region your licence requires, and so do the backups.

Systems we usually connect to

Core banking platformsCredit reference agenciesSanctions and screening providersPayment rails and card processorsDocument and identity verification servicesAccounting and general ledger systems

Your core banking platform, payment gateways, card processors and general ledger usually stay exactly where they are, and we build around them. If you ever retire one that still works, that should be your team's decision, made on purpose, and not something that happens by accident during a project. Our application security checklist covers what to test before anything that touches customer money goes live.

From application to approval

How a lending or payments build runs

  1. Map the current path

We take one real application and follow it from the first form to the final decision, noting each handoff and each wait. The slowest step often surprises the people who run the process.

    Week 1 to 2
  2. Agree the evidence

Before we write any code, we list everything you'll need to prove later. That list decides how we store the data.

    Week 2 to 3
  3. Build the first slice

We build one product for one type of customer and make it work from application to decision, so you can test the approach on real cases early.

    Week 3 to 10
  4. Run beside the old way

Your team runs the new system alongside the current process. Once the numbers match, you switch the old way off.

    Week 10 onward

These weeks are typical rather than fixed. Compliance reviews, sign off from your risk team and how soon we can reach a core banking test environment are what usually move the dates. Our page on each stage of our software development process explains the rest.

For lenders and their customers

Where finance teams feel the change

Decisions arrive sooner

Checks that used to queue one after another in an inbox now run at the same time, so applicants wait hours instead of days.

Fewer manual corrections

Details are checked as they're typed in, which removes most of the re keying that used to cause mismatches later.

Evidence on demand

When an auditor asks for a record's history, someone on your team can pull it up with a search.

Finance questions

Questions from banks and lenders

Usually yes, and usually without replacing it. Older cores tend to offer files, message queues or a partner API, and we build against whatever is there. Your core stays the official record, which keeps the risk of moving data low.

Test environments get generated or masked data, never a copy of production. When you need realistic data, we make a set that looks like yours but contains none of your real customers.

Both. What changes is how much evidence you need and how early we have to agree it. Established lenders usually have this written down already, so the first few weeks tend to move faster.
